Lecture by Mathilde Lamothe, as part of the exhibition "Esp%F2rts e j%F2cs occitans: Traditional Sports and Games, a Living Heritage." This lecture traces the history of the game of "quilles de 9," highlighting the vitality and social significance of this popular game in the Landes and Gascony. An anthropologist, Mathilde Lamothe holds the PCITER Junior Professorship at the University of Pau and the Pays de l’Adour. Her research focuses on the study of heritage processes, intangible cultural heritage, and traditional games and sports. "In the Southwest, there is a game—both athletic and a game of skill—that is a true sport, as beneficial to health as other sports, with [...] thousands of devoted players and thousands of fans" (La Petite Gironde, July 3, 1923). Conference organized in partnership with Aci Gasconha.
