They share a love for British music, both past and present. Singer Rosemary Standley (the divine performer of “Moriarty” and “Birds on a Wire”) and the Musiciens de Saint-Julien weave a delicate dialogue between folk music and early music. Inspired by Scottish and Irish traditions, these Anglo-Celtic ballads have spanned centuries and crossed borders, sometimes made famous by artists such as Joan Baez or Simon & Garfunkel. Supported by the counterpoint vocals of Hélène Richaud and Enea Sorini, Rosemary Standley’s sumptuous voice soars above the rich sounds of the early instruments that accompany her: flutes, bagpipes, pandora, baroque harp, tympanon, viola da gamba, cello, and Irish drums.
