Émile Parisien / Vincent Peirani: Embrace Émile Parisien (soprano saxophone), Vincent Peirani (accordion) The duo formed by saxophonist Émile Parisien and accordionist Vincent Peirani is one of the most outstanding collaborations in contemporary European Jazz. Since their first meeting in 2010, their musical connection has evolved into one of the most fruitful and admired partnerships on the jazz scene. They have performed more than 1,000 concerts together, more than 600 of which have been in duo format, consolidating a unique chemistry on stage. Their first joint album, Belle Époque (2014), was a tribute to the saxophonist Sidney Bechet that led them to perform on the most prestigious stages in the world. This work was also recognised with numerous awards, including the Echo Jazz and Les Victoires du Jazz. After six years of preparation, they released their second album Abrazo (2020), a project inspired by the elegance, melancholy and strength of tango. On Embrace the duo reinvents compositions by masters such as Astor Piazzolla, Tomás Gubitsch and Xavier Cugat, includes surprising arrangements by artists such as Kate Bush and also incorporates their own compositions. The opening of the album, with Jelly Roll Morton's "The Crave", establishes a subtle bridge with Belle Époque (2014), turning both albums into a suite that is listened to consecutively as an integral musical experience. Émile Parisien born in Cahors in 1982, is one of the most innovative figures in French jazz. Trained at the Toulouse Conservatory and the Jazz College of Marciac, he has collaborated with artists such as Daniel Humair, Joachim Kühn and Michel Portal, and has led projects such as the DaDaDa quartet and the Louise sextet, together with Roberto Negro and Manu Codjia. His style is characterised by a mixture of tradition and avant-garde, exploring new sonorities and forms of expression. Vincent Peirani born in Nice in 1980, is internationally renowned for his virtuosity and creativity on the accordion. After completing his studies at the Paris Conservatoire, he has worked with musicians such as Daniel Humair, Michel Portal and Youn Sun Nah, and has led projects such as Tandem and Living Being. His innovative approach has updated the language of the accordion in Jazz, fusing styles and genres with a unique sensibility. Together, Peirani and Parisien have created a musical proposal that transcends stylistic and cultural boundaries, offering a sound experience that combines the tradition of tango with the modernity of European Jazz. The magic of Embrace lies in the subtle interaction between the instruments and in the insatiable curiosity of both musicians, capable of fusing Jazz, avant-garde, classical music, folklore and contemporary rhythms without ever losing emotion and elegance. Each performance is an intimate, sophisticated and at the same time exciting dialogue, in which technique and creativity are placed at the service of the purest artistic expression.
