Diana Krall
Diana Krall (Piano and voice) Dennis Crouch (Bass), Marc Ribot (Guitar), Jay Bellerose (Drums) Diana Krall is, without a doubt, one of the most relevant and beloved figures of contemporary jazz. Her extraordinary sensitivity at the piano, her warm and suggestive voice, her natural elegance and her unmistakable intimate tone have made her an artist of universal scope. Over the last few decades, Krall has managed to combine respect for jazz with a modern and personal vision, placing herself in a unique space between classical jazz and popular music. Born in Nanaimo, a small town in British Columbia (Canada), she began playing the piano at the age of four and, by the age of fifteen, was performing regularly in a local restaurant. His father, a piano enthusiast and a connoisseur of the likes of Fats Waller, James P. Johnson and Earl Hines, was his first major musical influence. Thanks to a scholarship, she studied at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she began a career that would soon take her to the international stage. After Berklee, Krall moved to Los Angeles, where she came into contact with some of the great names in jazz, such as Ray Brown - her mentor and collaborator in her first projects -, John Clayton and Jimmy Rowles. In 1993 he released his first album, Stepping Out and shortly afterwards he began his fruitful collaboration with the legendary producer Tommy LiPuma, with whom he recorded some of the most important albums of his career: All for You (1995), Love Scenes (1997), When I Look in Your Eyes (1998), The Look of Love (2001) y Live in Paris (2003). International recognition came with When I Look in Your Eyes, which spent more than a year at number one on the Billboard Jazz Chart, won two GRAMMY® Awards and was nominated for Album of the Year. Since then, Diana Krall has maintained a solid and consistent career, combining the reinterpretation of standards with her own compositions, always from a personal, elegant and deeply musical perspective. Krall, who has performed several times at the Jazzaldia, represents the search for artistic excellence, respect for tradition and openness to new sensibilities. His music, always subtle and refined, transcends genres and connects with very diverse audiences, both for its interpretative honesty and for the emotional warmth he transmits in each performance. With more than fifteen million records sold and a career full of international accolades, Diana Krall continues to be an indisputable reference in Jazz.
