Vincent Peirani + Erik Truffaz & Antonio Lizana
Vincent Peirani - Living Being IV (Time Reflections) Vincent Peirani (accordion), Émile Parisien (soprano saxophone), Yoann Serra (drums), Julien Herné (bass), Tony Paeleman (fender rhodes) French accordion virtuoso Vincent Peirani one of the most innovative and versatile voices in European Jazz, presents Living Being IV (Time Reflections) (2025), the new chapter in a musical adventure that has been taking shape since 2015. In this work Peirani continues to expand the sonic universe of Living Being, five great musicians who beat together, dedicated to exploration and creative impulse, in a project that turns each concert into a unique experience. The album was born in the first months of the pandemic, in a time of forced pause that led the musician to reflect on how time shapes our lives. This gave rise to a work in which textures and dynamics converge in dialogue with baroque, traditional dances and contemporary rhythms. With a meticulous Peirani, "architect of sound", capable of weaving complex narratives that are, at the same time, easily accessible. The album incorporates tributes and influences essential to his career such as a tribute to Lionel Loueke and echoes of the collaboration with Michael Wollny, all integrated into a language of his own that is also influenced by the music of Queen, David Bowie, Portishead or The Beatles. The sound palette expands with trips to dub and traditional Balkan melodies. Always under the unmistakable stamp of Peirani, the accordionist and composer who in this work offers us his most personal musical portrait to date. New Sketches of Spain: Erik Truffaz - Antonio Lizana Erik Truffaz (trumpet), Antonio Lizana (voice, alto saxophone, flute), Renaud Gabriel Pion (bass clarinet, English horn, arrangements), Sara Sanchéz (dance), Pau Figueres (guitar), Arin Keshishi (electric bass), Manuel de la Torre (drums), Vincent Thomas (percussion) Miles Davis created Sketches of Spain (1960) inspired by the discovery of Spanish roots music, from Joaquín Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez to the expressive universe of flamenco. It was a work that opened Jazz to new sonic territories with an intense and profoundly poetic vision that marked a before and after in the opening of Jazz to world music. Decades later, the Swiss Erik Truffaz one of the best and most personal trumpet players in Europe with a career characterised by constant innovation, takes up the legacy of Miles Davis from his own point of view. His encounter with Antonio Lizana one of the most outstanding artists of today's flamenco-jazz, saxophonist and cantaor, resulted in the project New Sketches of Spain a work that revisits that classic from the present and commemorates the centenary of Miles Davis' birth in 2026. Lizana brings an unmistakable scenic energy, combining flamenco tradition with the freedom of contemporary jazz. Truffaz, for his part, a creative and brilliant disciple of his glorious predecessor, proves that he is one of the great European trumpet players. It will be a concert to celebrate and remember the music of Miles Davis, the Prince of Darkness who found the light in the land of Cervantes and García Lorca.
