Saint-Jean-de-Luz is a jewel set against a backdrop of the Zokoa Fort and the Artha breakwaters, which protect its bay, as well as the legendary La Rhune mountain range. Thus, since time immemorial, its history has been written “between sea and mountain”... The 2026 exhibition by Éric Bourdon, which opens for the 2026 Heritage Days, aims to reflect this identity——at once mountainous and oceanic—where pastoral cottages and shipowners’ homes come together to create that unique harmony that is the pride of the Basque Country. The artist thus continues his exploration of the region, once again affirming his appreciation for the work of the Japanese masters of printmaking who inspire him.
